Ross posted a delivery job on the 4th of May 2019, moving from Moorabbin VIC to Ferny Hills QLD. Ross selected Rham Transport for the job
I guess the most important thing is that your things arrive undamaged and I am satisfied in that regard.
However, communication was not good. In the request for quote I asked for a Tuesday move. I was told that they would aim for that, but that it might be a day either side - i.e. Monday or Wednesday. OK, but this was not very suitable as I was at the interstate destination and my brother was to assist with pick-up. They actually ended up coming on the Sunday at short notice and it was pure luck that my brother was available then (he works shifts for emergency services).
I had a few extra small items that I had flagged but not specified in the RFQ. These amounted to less than 1 cubic metre and I was told that this would increase the cost by more than 50%. This seemed completely unreasonable to me so I told them to leave these items behind.
So they loaded the truck on the Sunday and immediately asked me for payment before they would proceed. I said I would call back soon as I was busy doing things and didn't have my credit card at hand (again, it was a Sunday and I had requested a Tuesday move). 30 minutes later they were calling me again, 4 times in a row, harassing me to pay for work that was not yet completed. I called back and paid and then requested an ETA. They said they couldn't tell me at that point, but would update me. Two days later, having heard nothing, I requested an ETA again. No response. And the day after that, no response again. The following day (Thursday), same thing - crickets. Finally, on the Friday, I was informed that they would arrive on the following Monday OR Tuesday, with 1 hour notice. I took a punt that it wouldn't be Monday, and made the right call in going to work rather than taking the day off to wait for them. They finally arrived on the Tuesday morning. The guys in the truck were OK, and they were cheap (excluding the few extras that they wanted an arm and a leg for), but if you want peace of mind and greater certainty there are probably better options.
