Wendy posted a local removalist job on the 9th of Sep 2019, moving from Granville NSW to Parramatta NSW. Wendy selected Rham Transport for the job
Wendy's Feedback:
Now I know why this place is 3.7/5 stars.
You get the quality of what you paid for. I was lured in by the cheap price, but neglected to check the bad reviews - don't make the same mistake.
Yesterday, they arrived on time, in a 4.5T truck and they charged $88/hr, with 2 men. Today I went with Safe Removalists Australia, who had a 6T truck, charge $100/hr and also have 2 men.
Rham spent the first hour lounging around, staring at their truck/furniture (my simple, wooden, 4-legged dining table - there was nothing in the truck yet), walked slowly and constantly being on their phones. They were slow and lazy.
I should've thought about getting compensated for this (or at least withheld payment), but other reviews seem to say head office ignore any complaints, which I must say is another problem in of itself. You can see it here - they only say thank you to the good reviews. The bad reviews have a blind eye turned to them.
My shoe cabinet arrived broken at the top. All the nails still partially inside, which is a serious S&H hazard. Nevermind the scratches.
Admittedly, most of the time, they were trying to get out a large wardrobe, which couldn't fit through my unique entrance - however another company today, took <2 mins to attempt it, before knowing it was impossible THEN gave me the option of disassembling AND assembling it again at the new property. They managed all this in less than an hour compared to Rham's 2 hrs of loitering. They fumbled around, confused on how to disassemble it, didn't have enough tools to do so, and then left the job half-finished. I had a wardrobe split in half, and my sliding doors just lying on the side, after they were through with it.
The total time with Rham was 4 hrs, where they took my fridge, washing machine, a tallboy, 4 mattresses, and only a third of my boxes/bags. It took the company today (Safe Removalist, which by the way, has a 5/5 star rating), 5 hrs to disassemble my 2 beds, a study table, the giant wardrobe Rham had neglected, reassemble all of that - and the rest of my stuff, which included another smaller wardrobe, bookshelf, TV system, TV, coffee table and a mattress (I don't have a lounge). Let me remind you, that is two thirds of what Rham took, and disassembly/reassembly takes a very long time. Safe also fixed up my study desk so it was sturdier, without me having to ask.
The Rham men were friendly - I'll give them that. They did apologise for wasting my time, and I could feel the guilt from that and nervousness of getting into trouble with their company. I don't entirely blame them. My giant wardrobe was hard to deal with, and I can see they are severely inexperienced with furniture assembly. Safe knew exactly what tools were needed and the roles of certain bolts in my furniture, from a glance.
Rham did not give me any check-list or detailed receipt.
Safe filled out a receipt with a checklist for 4 things: whether I was happy about the condition of my belongings/furniture, happy with the condition of my property after the move, that nothing was left behind in their truck, and their service. It was signed by both parties with contract terms on the left column, and calculation of the fee done together so we both agreed on the total price. They offered to give me $5 off as I only had $50 notes, but they were so amazing at their job, that I tipped Safe Removalists $45 instead.
Rham is slow, so if you are looking to go with them, ensure you have a small amount of things that only need to be lifted, and prepare the furniture from damage, yourself.
...I'm still bitter about my experience and want part of my money back though.
