A few things didn't go as planned on our move day. Unfortunately, on arrival the tight driveway was difficult and the truck managed to pull down part of the brick fence. However, the experience dealing with the movers and the company over this issue went really well. They immediately were on the phone to the boss, the company agreed to fix, and communication was really good about that.
The truck wasn't big enough for our household contents, despite providing an inventory which was mostly accurate, so the move overall took longer than anticipated. We were quoted around 5-6 hours (from memory), and in total took 11. The guys were extremely careful, respectful and polite throughout the day and didn't stop for a break for the whole 11 hours so there was no concern about how hard they worked. However, we were promised two experienced removalists, and the second guy was first day on the job after not working for several months (and not sure how much prior experience as a home furniture removalist). This also slowed the process down quite a bit, as he wasn't able to move as quickly and needed direction on each move. The company were very understanding when I explained this after the move and very kindly agreed to reduce the overall cost which I was comfortable with.
There seemed to be a scheduling conflict as well, with a second job booked for the same removalists for the same guy. Given the move took almost twice as long as anticipated, the second job of the day were extremely unhappy and upset and the removalists were under a lot of pressure to finish and get to the next job. There were a few things we would have liked assistance with which were missed at the end of the day (help connecting washing machine, rearranging a few pieces of furniture), which would have been good if they weren't rushed.
Overall, no complaints about communication with the company, and no damage to goods. However, would strongly recommend re-confirming inventory, size of truck, estimated duration of move, and exactly who will be doing the move as these things all came as a surprise on the day and could easily have been planned better in advance.
