Have you ever met anyone who liked moving house? No? Then you need to meet Adam, a Removalist who loves his job! He whistles, skips, sings and laughs his way through your uber stressful day, relieving all those extra house-moving worries and brightening everyone's mood! Adam has been in the Removals trade for more than 15 years. He is fully qualified with the Australian Furniture Removalists Association and he has some high profile clients in his history book, say for example, the WA Symphony Orchestra and their (words can not describe the pricelessness of these) delicate and insanely fragile instruments; or how about the famously fussy Perth socialite who pulled stumps in the middle of one of her 'Prix D'Amore' revamps until Adam arrived on site. True story!

The one thing Adam didn't love about his job was the lack of control given to him to give the extra care and respect he feels the client needs to get through a house move, which, as we all know, rates in the top 5 for stressful life events. For Adam, his favourite part of the job is "relieving the stress". At breaking point he took the plunge, quit the big boys, and Top Shelf Removals was born; that was just over a year ago. Along with Pearl, his lovely 7 tonne taught-liner Hino, and an offsider or two, Adam has been putting smiles back on the faces of house movers since September 2014.

And, that's the sales pitch out of the way, phew...so, what's it going to cost?

We charge an hourly rate (2 hr minimum), plus a fuel levy -- no depot to depot charge like most other removalists! Our rates start at $95 per hour for weekday small deliveries and easy 1 man moves (you get Adam and Pearl, and maybe our trusty sidekick Bruce, the Jack Russell). From there our rates are calculated on extra men, heavy items, times and days, ease of access, stairs, referrals, etc. We charge the hourly rate from when we arrive at your current address to when we leave your new home, and add a minimum $50 fuel charge which covers most of the Perth metro area. Whether you're in Alkimos, Balcatta, Cockburn, Darlington or Esperance, your fuel charge will be a fraction of the usual depot to depot charge. (Depot to Depot means you are charged from the time the truck leaves the depot to go to your job, to the time the truck pulls back into the depot after driving home from your job. Imagine hiring a Joondalup removalist to come to Kelmscott -- there are many things you need to look for in any professional tradesman you hire, THEIR location shouldn't have to be one of them.

Because every job is different it's hard to give a firm quote. From the tree-change retirees to the new home owners, the size of your home and your family, how long you've been in your current home, and if you have any valuable or heavy items, stairs, long winding driveways etc, all become factors in determining time, and therefore cost. The guys can also help out with little extras like disassembling and reassembling beds (not cots), and re-hosing your waching machine. Remember though...if you can disassemble beds and rehose the washing machine yourself, it'll save you $50 :) Any help you need while the guys are there...just ask.

The best thing you can do next is give Adam a call and discuss your move with him, he's been doing this for years and he'll be able to give you a good estimate and some invaluable time-saving tips in a 10 minute phone call. Alternatively you can text or email us and we'll give you a call back. When Adam arrives at your home he'll do a quick walk through with you and will then be able to advise a more solid timeframe, although still an estimate, usually correct to within the hour. For more complicated situations, Adam may need to visit first to be able to quote effectively; this, he does at no additional cost.
